THREE CONTEST SERIES CHAMPIONS WIN YEARS SUPPLY OF ELEMENT BOARDS!

Woodward West played host to the championships on the Elemental Awareness ‘Fleur De Lis Contest Series’ this past Saturday. With all skaters placing high in previous contests to gain entrance to this event, the ability level was incredibly high. Isaiah Johnson and Tony Carr shined in qualifiers but Jakel Johnson pulled out his whole bag of tricks to take first in the 13&Under division. Max Crist put together amazing lines carrying a smile the whole time, edging out the competition for first place in 14-17 division. Every match in the 18&up/Sponsored division was heated and had the large crowd on its toes, but in the end Sean Rodriguez couldn’t be beat as he rarely missed a flip trick. Thanks to the hundreds of skaters that participated in the series over the last 6 weeks. To see more coverage from the event visit elementalawareness.org.

AM CONTEST IN BAKERSFIELD DRAWS HUGE CROWD / 90 COMPETING SKATERS

The Bakersfield stop on the Elemental Awareness Fleur De Lis Contest Series was the biggest yet with close to 500 people in attendance. The event literally had cars slowing down on the 99 Freeway as they passed to check out the scene. There was a lot of diversity in the Bakersfield skate community both in ethnicity and styles and it was awesome to see do many different types of people united under the banner of skateboarding . The grass lawn was filled with parents and skaters cheering boisterously as skaters progressed into further rounds in the head to head contest format. The top 6 skaters in each division received a golden ticket to this Saturday’s event where they will be competing for a year’s worth of Element Skateboards. Day 6 - ELEMENT AMS IN PHOENIX

While most of the U.S. is bearing severe storms we were thankful for an amazing day of weather in Phoenix, AZ. Another exceptional ditch spot played host to the first stop of the day, Collin Provost and the other riders warmed up and filmed some tricks while Spiro Razis hiked through the neighboring hills. Feeling a bit warn down from a non-stop week we ventured the same direction as always when the group is low on energy, this being the nearest Whole Foods Market, a sponsor of the trip. Rejuvenated we were able to get to some more good spots. When shooting some portraits at a random location the Element magnet (aka the tree van) brought some local kids who were thankful for some product the riders had on hand, we shared some laughs and headed to the next spot. Shortly there after we were met by an authority who after long advice toward re-directing our live's, not so kindly suggested we be on our way, constantly using the word 'behoove' as if he had just learned it today. Point taken we directed the van to the hotel and called it a day. Although ending with a bit of drama, the positives through the day much outweighed the negatives, concluding another successful AZ outing.

Day 5 - ELEMENT AMS IN PHOENIX

With the contest complete the Element Ams were happy to have a full day of street skating ahead of them. The only problem was the day of the week, Monday, possibly the most difficult day of the week to skate; for most all spots are business, schools or high traffic areas. Thanks to Element Am rider and AZ native Levi Brown, we skated for over 12 hours, at amazing spots, and never got kicked out. One of the standout spots was a yard of full pipes. Photographer Ryan Allan got it warmed before getting behind the lens and chalking up another point on the photos list. Since we were on a roll we hit up a spot we had been denied at our first day, one of the lesser known bank spots in the Phoenix region. All riders finished with footage from this spot, including a tailslide from Dallas. No case of the Monday's today, marking the most productive day of the trip yet!

Day 4 - ELEMENT AMS IN PHOENIX

The Final day of the Phoenix Am contest invited Collin Provost and Tony Tave into the semi-finals. Click here to watch a video of Element Am riders from the weekends event; riders include Collin Provost, Tony Tave, Dallas Rockvam and Spiro Razis. The competition on the final day was on the same scale as the temperature on the course, hot! Once the contest came to an end everyone packed the Element van with an added guest, Tony Tave, in search of some spots. The day ended at 'Dinosaur park,' a playground where the unique landscape is more reptilian and amphibian than pre-historic, but either way proved to be excellent for skateboarding and self-portraits. Everyone looks forward to tomorrow which will be a full day of street skating in Phoenix, AZ.
