What could be better than getting your first cover of a skate mag? How about TWO in the same month! Congrats to Tony Tave who graces the cover of Thrasher catching a mighty switch heel as well as on The Skateboard Mag’s cover with a switch back lip. The coverage doesn’t stop there as Tony has two more pages in Thrasher, Colt Cannon is alongside him in that article. Jake Rupp can also be spotted, he’s in the Skateboard Mag with a ‘Firsts Things First.’ Congrats again to Tony Tave for the covers and continuing with the onslaught of coverage.

ELEMENT EUROPE UK TRIP

Janne Saario, Jo Lorenz, Pirkka Pollari, Bas Janssen and local riders Lucien Clarke and Chris Gibbons spent one week in the UK together to skate some of the best spots in Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff and London. For the second week of the trip Michael Mackrodt, Sebastian Hepp and Gauthier Rouger replaced the first group. They decided to stay around London because there are so many spots to skate except for a one-day trip to Milton Keynes. More news about this trip is coming out in a future addition of Sidewalk magazine.

TOUR UPDATE - PHILLY STREETS

The Element team has been skating in and around Philadelphia the last few days, getting some filming and photos in before heading to the next demo stop on the Summer of Endurance tour. One of the standout sessions was in south philly, a rough area with some great skate spots. We went to a school with a large set of stairs, Rupp found this wallride off to the side. There were a bunch of kids causing havoc running about nearly the whole time we were at the spot. Usually this ruins a session but when filming and trying tricks they'd all stop and be quiet. Once someone got their trick they'd be back into their antics or creating some sort of challenge of some sort for one of us, and whenever they needed something new to do they'd curse at each other and then go straight to fisticuffs. After the session the crew headed over the bridge to Haddonfield, NJ for whats become a team summer ritual, a barbecue at team manager Ryan DeWitt's house. Tomorrow we head out to Rochester, NY for a demo on Sunday , check back soon for more photos & news.

SUMMER OF ENDURANCE TOUR CONTINUES TOWARDS PHILLY/JERSEY

The Element team left NYC today with the next destination being Philadelphia/South Jersey. While waiting outside the hotel one of NYPD's finest rolled up on Tosh & Rupp but just to rap about his old days of skating and then give it a go for the first time in 18 years, a refreshing run-in with the law. We grouped up and headed out of Manhattan's chaos to catch the train to North Philly. After getting situated at the hotel, Jake Rupp took everyone to his favorite Philly spot, Kingdom of Vegetarian where everyone left fulfilled. The night ended on South Street, one of the few places where its not out of the ordinary to see an SUV rolling down the street with the trunk open so the trailing car can watch videos, quite a scene. For yesterdays demo photos and the signing at the NYC store click here, the next event is Go Skateboarding Day & demo on Wednesday, more info here.

ELEMENT SPONSORS GAME OF S.K.A.T.E. IN WATTS

Elemental Awareness hosted a flat-ground S.K.A.T.E. Tournament this past Saturday in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles. Though neighborhoods in Watts don’t have the best reputation in the publics eye, the skaters are a much different story. These kids are some the coolest, most polite skaters out there, and most all made it outs to the event. David Barrera ended up taking home the first place honors winning a full scholarship to Element YMCA Skate Camp, an Element deck, a limited edition Elemental Awareness Jeremy Parker art board, wheels, and a t-shirt. Not too bad for a free entry event. Props to all the skaters of Watts for keeping their scene alive and vibrant.?
