Congrats to Taylor Bray of Dallas, TX who took first place in the 2010 Element "MAKE IT COUNT" International Contest Series! The skating was at an all time high, along with the camaraderie and every competitors encouragement for one another; making it an event like no other. 2nd place went to Jason Singler, and a tie for 3rd went to Gage Smith and Bradley Elias. Defending champ Vincent Luevanos killed it as well, and was announced continued part of the team.

Element Advocate and artist Mike Kershnar recently returned home after venturing out to be a part of the Faces and Laces Exhibition of skate in Moscow, Russia. Along with painting walls and people, Mike cruised around the Russian countryside and experienced the alive street culture for a few days. Mike couldn't help but explain the trip as one that opened up his heart in a beautiful way.

Element shoe designer Paul Kwon drew inspiration from his home state of Michigan, from cracked sidewalks, to crumbling ledges, or sticky asphalt that you will sink into. Element Founder and President Johnny Schillereff along with Todd Larson, Director of Elemental Awareness, visited the Tiger Woods Learning Center in Anaheim, CA to speak and inspire the local youth. Never one to back down from a challenge, the seminar even included a rap when called out by a student after Johnny told his story about being in a hip hop group with Lil' Jon. If everyone wasn't already smiling, they were after that. Nearing the end of the Make it Count Contest Series, Element headed to New Braunfels, TX just outside of San Antonio. Skaters came from all over Texas for a chance to compete in the finals at Element YMCA Skate camp on June 20th. The energy in the park was high and the competition was fierce, but in the end it was Taylor Bray from Dallas, TX who took home the top prize and earned a spot in the finals. Special thanks to Goodtimes skateshop and the Jaws Skatepark crew for making this another amazing contest!

The 8th stop on the Make it Count International Series went down in Los Angeles at the P-Rod skate plaza on Sunday April 25th. Skaters came from all over Southern and central California to compete for a place in the finals at Element YMCA skate camp on June 20th. Last years winner, Vincent Luevanos was on hand to help judge with Element team riders Ray Barbee, Jeremy Wrap and Chad Tim Tim. The top winner of the day went to Stevie Perez who was killing every obstacle that was put in front of him. Special thanks to everyone who came out to make this event a great one for the kids of LA.

More than hundred kids showed up at Placa de la marina for Malaga demo. The team had a good time skating, chatting and playing game of skate with locals.
Placa de la Marina is an epic/classic spot. Flat banks, perfect curbs, stairs. Michael and Phil especially liked the spot.

The sixth stop of the Make It Count Contest Series went down at the historical Skate Park of Tampa. Element team riders Chad Tim Tim, Darrell Stanton, Levi Brown and Nick Garcia were on hand to judge the event. Kids from all over Florida came to compete for a spot in the finals at Element YMCA skate camp on June 20th. Clint Beswick took the top seat as our overall winner of the day and will be at the finals this summer along with the other winners from each location. A special thanks to SPoT for their support and energy making this a great event!

| Steeped in history, the Bondi Icebergs was founded in 1929 to encourage surf life savers to stay fit during the winter months. To be a member you had to swim 3 out of the 4 Sundays of the month in freezing winter water. Situated at the southern end of Bondi, the club overlooks Australia's most famous beach and has become the meeting place and restaurant of choice for Sydney's upper eschelon. The fact that they let Brett Chan draw all over the place to set the mood for their New Years Eve party is testament to his widespread credibility as an artist. Element Advocate Mike Kershnar teamed up with legendary skateboard artist Mike Giant for a two man art show at the Skullz Press in San Francisco, California. The show included new works by both artists as well as a series of collaborative pieces, culminating in 18" by 24" inking entitled "Center Skull." THE AMBASSADOR HONORS XMAS EVENT |

The Ambassador Series was created to provide access to the growing landscape of 'At Risk' communities. This Sunday they will be hosting a Xmas event at the Ambassador Skate Plaza in LA. Along with live music and product giveaways, free entry will be granted from 12pm-4pm.

Element joined forces with Crunchtime artists based in Vienna, Austria for a skateboard live-painting project this autumn. Check out the time-lapse video as the art makes it way from artist to artist. These painted boards will be ridden then brought back to be exhibited at the notorious Inoperable Gallery in Vienna December 19th.

| Congrats to Element Canada's Dave Nolan who graces the cover of the new Concrete Mag, Photo Issue. It's shot by Jay Bridges who recounts “This place is known as the Scuttle Holes, north of Belleville, Ontario. It’s a giant hole in the ground that leads to a cave, which leads to the Moira River. It’s kinda scary ‘cause if you to walk down the trail at night you might fall into the hole and die. Dave Nolan almost fell into it trying that 360 flip because the plywood runway was super sketchy and set on a downhill. There was also a bat in the cave when I got there to set-up, but I threw a rock and it bounced.” |

The music is described as " a blast of psychadelia-tinged garage rock" has hit the #2 most added on college radio charts this past week. Willowz band member Loren Humphrey is the man behind the original music found in MAKE IT COUNT, The Element Story.

NEW JANNE SAARIO PLAZA PARK GRANI OPENS |

Element Europe Advocate and manual master Janne Saario has opened another plaza park he designed. With an education in Architecture, Janne has used his skills to design skate parks that work with existing landscape. In this case an old strip mall was torn down, materials composted and rearranged to a near park to serve as a skatepark called "GRANI." The park consists of white concrete sidewalk, recycled light poles, curbs and stone garden for urban meditation.

| After appearing in two number one movies in 2009, Paul Blart: Mall Cop and The Hangover, Mike V is once again going Hollywood as he scored a role in the remake of the 80's blockbuster "Red Dawn." Mike plays an arms dealer in the film and also evades explosions and gun fire while doing stunt work as a Russian Soldier in the film due out a year from now in November of 2010. He had to cut off his long hair and beard for the role, which was "time to hit the reset button anyway, the movie role just gave me a good excuse to get a haircut." See Mike's fresh cut over at Shred Or Die, his 4 part Free Lunch is now playing. |

This past Saturday Bucky hosted a BBQ and jam at his house to celebrate the completion of his 14ft concrete bowl. On Sat. September 26th, Element, Beachworks and Elemental Awareness teamed up for a skate contest, pro demo and team signing at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA. Tons of kids came out to rip the best trick contest before the pros took the course. Riders in attendance included Mike V., Darrell Stanton, Chad Tim Tim, Tony Tave, Levi Brown, Nick Garcia, Lacey Baker and many more. There were tons of activities provided in the festival style skate event. Kids could make a skateboard with Paul Schmitt, Tie Dye a tee shirt, hold live animals, and taste organic produce. ELEMENT EUROPE TAKES FIRST AT DOWNTOWN SHOWDOWN! |

| Turin, Italy played host to the first European Vans Downtown Showdown, and with only 4 members (Phil Zwijsen, Madars Apse, Michael Mackrodt and team manager Christian Vankelst), Element Europe took 1st place! Phil Zwijsen was awarded 1st ‘Best Am’, while Madas Apse came 2nd for best trick on the Cliche obstacle. Ray Barbee was on hand to present the team with the 15,000 euro prize money and in turn the team decided to award their own prize (that being 5000 euros of their money) to the Trap team who had killed the skatepark all day and deserved to share in the glory. | Coastal Edge welcomed Element to participate in this years East Coast Surfing Championships held in Virginia Beach, VA. Thousands of people came out to see the surf competition and skate vert demos. Element Riders Bucky Lasek, Zach Miller and Neil Hendrix killed it on the vert ramp all weekend. EVENTS - Element presents 'Giving Back' |

Element partnering with Terrakota and Boards N Stuff presented 'Giving Back' on International Go Skate Day in Singapore on the 24th June at Somerset Skatepark to resounding success. Along with all the fun and dizzying tricks that were thrown on the day, a lot of love went out to the public from Element and the others involved. Our very own Chad, was onsite to oversee the event and was also dishing out tasteful tunes to the crowd! After the event both young & old got together at Blu Jazz cafe to celebrate skate, love and BEER. ESPN was on hand to capture this event so check it out in full here.
