After appearing in two number one movies in 2009, Paul Blart: Mall Cop and The Hangover, Mike V is once again going Hollywood as he scored a role in the remake of the 80's blockbuster "Red Dawn." Mike plays an arms dealer in the film and also evades explosions and gun fire while doing stunt work as a Russian Soldier in the film due out a year from now in November of 2010. He had to cut off his long hair and beard for the role, which was "time to hit the reset button anyway, the movie role just gave me a good excuse to get a haircut." On October 1st, Element and TOMS staff, hopped on a plane to South Africa to deliver skateboards and shoes to children in need, the fulfillment of the 'One for One' campaign that began earlier this year. While the project is still in motion, we wanted to share photos and updates from Africa. This past Saturday Bucky hosted a BBQ and jam at his house to celebrate the completion of his 14ft concrete bowl. It was an invite only event and some of skateboardings greatest came out for the event. Hawk, Hosoi, Burnquist, Rune, Zach and Chris Miller...just to name a few. On Sat. September 26th, Element, Beachworks and Elemental Awareness teamed up for a skate contest, pro demo and team signing at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA. Tons of kids came out to rip the best trick contest before the pros took the course. Riders in attendance included Mike V., Darrell Stanton, Chad Tim Tim, Tony Tave, Levi Brown, Nick Garcia, Lacey Baker and many more. There were tons of activities provided in the festival style skate event. Kids could make a skateboard with Paul Schmitt, Tie Dye a tee shirt, hold live animals, and taste organic produce. Mike Vallely and RatRod Studio are set to release a new game for the iPhone, called "Mike V - Do or Die." The games features full 3D graphics, over 40 tricks, and 7 unique environments, as well as music from Mike V's band, Revolution Mother. Turin, Italy played host to the first European Vans Downtown Showdown, and with only 4 members (Phil Zwijsen, Madars Apse, Michael Mackrodt and team manager Christian Vankelst), Element Europe took 1st place! Phil Zwijsen was awarded 1st ‘Best Am’, while Madas Apse came 2nd for best trick on the Cliche obstacle. Ray Barbee was on hand to present the team with the 15,000 euro prize money and in turn the team decided to award their own prize (that being 5000 euros of their money) to the Trap team who had killed the skatepark all day and deserved to share in the glory. Coastal Edge welcomed Element to participate in this years East Coast Surfing Championships held in Virginia Beach, VA. Thousands of people came out to see the surf competition and skate vert demos. The East Coast Tour came to a close with a great demo and signing in Frederick, MD. The day started at Pit Crew with a massive signing, and ended at the skate park with a demo. Thanks to Muska's encouragement, the skies parted ways after a short rain, and the Element team killed it. Furni Creations and Don Pendleton have teamed up to create two very unique alarm clocks to benefit EA. Each clock is hand made out of wood that comes from a 200 year old barn in the Swiss Alps. Once the clocks were finished, Skateboard Artist, Don Pendleton painted some of his stylistic signature art on them for a one of a kind look. All proceeds benefit Elemental Awareness.

Two big events this weekend! On Saturday, Elemental Awareness continues their Make It Count contest series with a stop in Austin, TX with Levi Brown on hand to help judge. On On Sunday, Element and Furnace team up in Seal Beach, CA for a pier side demo and beach clean up, followed by a Mike V signing at the shop down the road.

Furnace in Seal Beach was the spot to be last night for the release of the Element Tim Tim + Furnace shoe! The LBC crew met up at Cherry Park for a session and BBQ to start off the day, then headed off to the shop to party into the night. The 7th stop on the Make it Count National Contest Series went down this past weekend in the Central Valley town of Delano, CA. More than 500 skaters showed up for the days events. The excitement was at an all time high with tons of local skaters in attendance. Congrats goes out to Michael Ruiz for winning Best overall and a Scholarship to Element YMCA Skate Camp where he will compete with the other event winners for a year sponsorship by Element Skateboards. The main reason for attending is to participate in the workshops and activities, but our crew brought their own craft, building obstacles in the barren lands and skating. The biggest Am skate contest of the year went down this last weekend, and Lacey Baker became the first girl in Tampa Am history to make it to the semi's, congrats! "Girls don't get judged any different in any of our events, especially Tampa Am. That could be why there has never been a girl that made the cut to Sunday in Tampa. Lacey Baker changed that today. She killed it - noseslide back 270 out down the hubba, hard flipped the stairs, 360 flip the hip, and more." Results here.

The Elemental Awareness Future Nature Am contest series continues this Sunday at the El Dorado park in Long Beach, CA. Click here to check out the flyer for all the info. Element riders Darrell Stanton and Chad Tim Tim expected to be on hand as well.

March 8th marked the second annual Clash at Clairemont. Held at the Caliremont YMCA Skatepark, pro's put on a demo to benefit the YMCA skatepark and support the Grind For Life cause. Hundreds of people crowded the event, watched skating from a medley of skaters including Element's Patrick Ryan. Fans got autographs from skaters including Element riders Bucky Lasek, Karen Jones and Zac Miller among others. Thanks to PacSun, the Mission Valley YMCA and everyone that came out and showed their support.

The Skateboard Mag is always good at providing a wide range of talent from the seasoned vets to the un-heard-of's. In the new issue, #49, check out Element flow rider Aaron Lee who has a nice double spread in the Hawaii Loc's article. The article spotlights the locals that hold it down in Hawaii and we're proud to have Aaron as one of them, congrats!

Mike Vallely and Levi Brown arrived today in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Mike, Levi and crew are filming for Drive Season 3. Check back for updates and photos from their travels over the next week.

The Element crew headed up to Big Bear, CA for a photo shoot recently. We called friends at The Block and they hooked up some rooms for us. We played pool in the lobby, played Playstation in our rooms, and hit some of the local establishments with their friendly staff. Elemental Awareness held the 5th annual Paint-A-Deck-Get-A-Deck event in South Central Los Angeles this past week at the Salvation Army Community Center. Element family including artists Todd Francis, Brooke Reidt and Mike Kershnar along with team riders Chad tim Tim and Tosh Townend were on hand to pass out blank decks that kids then painted on. The kids completed their works with the help of the Element folks and then had a great board that they could ride, give for a holiday gift, or hang on their wall. Some of the best efforts were also rewarded with boards, hats and more. Elemental Awareness thanks PSStix for donating the blanks, all the Element family that came out, and PJ & Andre at the community center for making this another great event. Mike V hit the road this last weekend getting Season 3 of the acclaimed 'Drive' show underway. Mike and crew headed to Lake Havasu City, AZ where he found a thriving skate scene with powerful motivation. Through recent tragic events parents and skaters have come together to lobby for an improved skate park to facilitate the communities needs. Mike skated with the kids, got to know the locals, and over only a couple days has stolen the heart of the town. Mike is featured today on the front page of the local paper. Even at dinner folks showed love. Mike heads home tomorrow after an enjoyable stay, many thanks go out to the city and it's skate scene. More reports from the road as the Drive crew films over the coming months.

Element riders Levi Brown and Tosh Townend joined up with Elemental Awareness supporters Dallas Rockvam, Dylan Christopher and Mat Luciani for a tour through the Southwest. The groups travels are documented including stops in Phoenix, White River Apache Reservation, San Carlos Reservation, Albuquerque and Sioux City. Elemental Awareness hosted the 4th Annual Holiday Game of S.K.A.T.E. last night in Yorba Linda, Ca. The turnout was bigger than ever with over 70 skaters entering the contest and many more on hand to cheer them on. Check out a photo gallery from the event here. Congrats to Matt Lemond who took 1st place and a grip of Element product. Last years champ Brent Allen was just behind in 2nd and Robbie Jepson in third. Last night (Dec. 5), Mike V along with Bam Margera and Chad Muska had the pleasure of breaking in Kat Von D's new mini ramp which she had built inside of her tattoo studio, High Voltage in Hollywood, CA. The skating and short Vains Of Jenna performance was all filmed for an upcoming episode of season two of LA Ink. We'll be sure to let you know when it's going to air. This past weekend Element riders joined Elemental Awareness to host a Skate Jam in Long Beach at the Vets Community Park. Chad Tim Tim, Levi Brown, Collin Provost, Lacey baker and Patrick Ryan all came out to skate with the kids and judge a best trick contest. The fire department grilled up food for everyone, even a council man came out to take part in the festivities. Element and Elemental Awareness are proud to sponsor a new independent film project entitled 'Sour.' The film is Directed by Nathan Gray(2nd from left), pictured here with producers and Israeli skater Edi(far left). The brief reads, "In essence, ‘Sour,’ is a film about doing the things you love with people you’re not supposed to like." The film showed as part of the Arab Film Festival and has been receiving nice reviews. Keep your eye out for this project as it becomes available on DVD soon.

Canadian skate and culture mag ' Color ' released their newest issue, #5.4, which features the skate worlds best graphic designers and illustrators. Amongst those highlighted are Element's Craig Metzger, Todd Francis, Matt Irving and Don Pendleton. Along with their works, the article includes informative, sarcastic and funny interviews from all the artists, check it out.

In the new SLAP, Don Pendleton has a large feature, documenting his prolific path through skateboarding. MIKE KERSHNAR GOOD MEDICINE SERIES ART SHOW PHOTO GALLERY
The Element NYC store hosted an art show featuring the works of Mike Kershnar in celebration of the 'Good Medicine' series release. The event took place Saturday night in Times Square and entertained a constant stream of folks, some of which planned to attend and others where the show caught their eye even amongst the barrage of vibraant media, and came in for a closer look. Along with the artist, Mike Kershanr, Element rider Levi Brown was on hand hanging out and even skating in front of the store. All in all a fun night in NYC for all, be on the look out for the limited release of boards in stores Nov. 1st.

MIKE V CONTINUES EUROPE TOUR
Mike V and his band Revolution Mother continue their tour through Europe. Last Friday Mike was in Czech Republic where he played a big show, did some skating and finished with an interview for Ocko, the Czech version of MTV, so if you reside in the region look out for that. The tour is just about over but here's the flyer/schedule where Mike V will be next.

Catch Brent Atchley on Saturday just outside of Detroit in Sylvan Lake at TWC this Saturday! Brent will be on hand as part of an all day skate event with bands, product giveaways and more, the event runs 11-7pm with skating from 11-2pm.

Gaberman has served as Senior Photographer at Skateboarder Magazine for the last handful of years and has built up quite an impressive body of work . A Connecticut native, Gaberman moved to California to live out the skateboarders dream of gaining sponsors and did so with his originality and unique style. After being featured skating in magazines and 411VM, Gaberman focused more on photography. With the same passion and creativity he had skating, he has created a portfolio second to none. The humble Gaberman won't tell you he is also revered in the contemporary fine art world, but the works on his web site make that obvious. Needless to say, we're proud to have him on board.

Element Artist Todd Francis had a show last week in his hometown of SF in promotion of a new signature glass. As he reports "Café Du Nord was filled with signage, pigeons, displays of the glasses and packaging, and revelers both tall (matt irving) and old (mic-e reyes). Virgil Shaw and Sonny Smith put on a whale of a show, and drink tickets vanished faster than american dollars in Iraq. All the display pigeons were stolen, all the drinks were guzzled, and even the plastic fruit got eaten. Thanks to everyone for coming, it was fun." This past Saturday Element hosted a party highlighting the preview of Darrell Stanton's first pro shoe! VIP guests received a limited edition pair of shoes, board, tee and unreleased compilation of music from Stones Throw records. The rest of the crowd celebrated with free drinks through the night, free t-shirt making via Hit-n-Run and an innovative photo booth provided by imeem. Congrats to Nyjah Huston who took second place in the éS game of SKATE! Nyjah won matches against Sierra Fellers, Pat Channita and Joey Brezinski sending him into a three way finals match with Mike Mo and Chris Cole. Nyjah took Cole to a 'T' in a very exciting match and finished in second place. Nyjah's efforts were rewarded with $5,000. Following the contest éS premiered their new full length promo video 'éspecial' in which Nyjah has another great part, check it out!

This past weekend skateboard manufacturer extraordinaire Paul Schmitt took his Create-A-Skate program to the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA as part of the 'Festival of Children.' Tosh Townend and Levi Brown were on hand to accompany the kids through the process of making a skateboard and autograph the final product. Students included groups from Big Brothers & Sisters as well as students that signed up online. Kids that made boards also received a card for a hefty discount at Beachworks off Element accessories to make their boards complete. Check out the photo gallery from the Create-A-Skate program.

Element held the first 'Flat Bar-B-Que' yesterday at Active in Tustin. Although temperatures seared into the 100's many came out to skate, enter contests to win limited edition flat bars, and grub some free food. The police force decided this was way to much fun for labor day and shut the event down, but not before Peter and Dylan skated away with new Element flat bars. Tosh, Ray Barbee, Tim Tim, Levi and Barker were on hand skating it up, signing autographs and enjoying the Labor Day BBQ. Click here to check out photos from the event!

Element Pro Tosh Townend and Element Advocate Mike Kershnar both spoke on a panel Thursday night at The Huntington Beach Art Center on "Concrete Execution: Skateboarding in the 21st century. The panel discussion delved into topics from televised skateboarding reality shows, to graphics, to D.I.Y. videos such as The Weenabago Projeckt. Tosh and Mike kept the panel lively with jokes and hijinx usually kept far from a museum panel. It's always funny to see skateboarding in a high culture arena and the local Huntington skaters in attendance definitely had their share of laughs. Thanks to Keiko and the Huntington Beach Art Center.

Element and Staf magazine worked together on creating an exhibition on customized sneakers involving many european artists but also involving the public itself. Many of our element shoes got a little facelift. The event took place in Tenerife and Las Palmas, Spain. Thanks to Juan at Staf mag for making this happen.

Element YMCA Skate Camp just finished up another amazing summer! Special thanks to all the campers that attended in '07 and the staff for making a special place that much more incredible. The Element East Coast Tour is all wrapped up after a finale event at the Element Times Square store. Tosh, Nyjah, Tim Tim, Levi, Collin & Lannon held a signing that put a line around the corner waiting to meet the team. After the signing the crew hit the hot and humid streets for a final skate sesh. Element team made the last demo stop on the picturesque banks of the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, NY. Even though pre-fab, everyone killed it and impressed the locals, Collin and Nyjah provided the demo enders leaving jaws dropped. Following the demo everyone headed to TSX skate shop for a signing, welcomed by a massive line in the second story of the mall. Just as it got going Tosh Townend and his Weenabago Project rolled through making a guest appearance, instantly having security on edge. Thus far the tour has been hot and muggy, and we'd expect nothing less headed to Sayerville, NJ. Instead we were welcomed with a rain storm and temperatures in the 50's, canceling the demo. The team headed to NJ Skateshop greeted by a line around the building to get autographs. After a nice signing at the shop we were told the park had pretty much dried out, so we hit it up for a fun evening sesh with the locals. Once darkness ended the day, NJ Skateshop owner and legendary writer Chris Nieratko invited everyone over for a bbq, making it the best night of the trip thus far. Recently Element Europe riders Ruben Rodrigues, Evelien Bouilliart, Guillame Mocquin and Julien Benoliel skated the European Championship in Basel, Switzerland. Element team made the long voyage from Atlanta, putting the next stamp on the map in Virginia Beach. Today the team held a signing in front of 17th street skate shop where the fans kept coming and coming. Click here to see photos from the event. Element's East Coast Tour took over the greater Atlanta area with two huge events. The day started with a signing at Ambush, that put a line around the massive building to meet riders Muska, Nyjah, Tim Tim, Collin, Levi and Jimmy. Even the mayor came out to see what the hype was about, leaving with a full smile. Mini contests were held in the parking lot for prizes as the couple hour long line dithered down. Once all set there the team headed over to Progressive Skate Park where the locals were packed in, making it the biggest demo the place has ever seen. Everyone killed it, including lesser known rippers flow rider Matt Fink and Element in-house rep on 'vacation' Jamie Walsh. Collin shut down the demo in the sauna like complex with a kickflip lip. Mike V has been going strong all summer with daily performances on the Warped Tour. Every day he does a demo on the mini ramp, his band 'Revolution Mother' performs an entire set, holds an autograph signing and even wraps it up with a Serius radio show. Element team headed to the oldest running skatepark in the world yesterday, Kona, near Jacksonville, Fl, for the second stop on the East Coast Tour. The skating space is massive and dreamlike filled with a snake run, concrete transition area, full street course, vert ramp, and much more. Muska was still nursing a harsh heal bruise from last demo but Nyjah, Levi, Collin and Jimmy all ripped it up and put on a nice demo. Element team kicked off the East Coast Tour yesterday in Tarpon Springs, FL. The crowd at Stewy's Skatepark in Tarpon Springs, FL rushed team van when it pulled up and the excitement didn't let up from there. The team consisting of Chad Muska, Nyjah Huston, Chad Tim Tim, Levi Brown, Collin Provost and Jimmy Lannon put on a great demo for a large crowd. Once soaked from the hot & muggy conditions they headed over for an autograph signing that went deep into the evening with an array of hyped Floridians. Thanks to everyone that came out, Montessi of Westside Skateshop and Amber of Stewy's Skatepark for making it a great start to the tour. A couple weeks ago the Element team consisting of Chad Muska, Chad Tim Tim, Collin Provost and Levi Brown, headed to Toronto for an Element sponsored am contest. While there they put on a demo, check out some clips from it in the weekly web clip!

The Skateboarder article is a well written piece giving an in-depth look at Muska; discussing his current projects, transition into riding for Element and all the other big questions lingering out there. Element hosted a party last night to announce the release of the Advocate program. There are no set rules for who can become an ‘Element Advocate’ other than creativity, passion, social awareness and they advocate Element’s core values. The night kicked off with a spoken word/acoustic performance by Ishle Park. The powerful set was followed up with a Fashion show displaying the new line of clothes, DJ’d by Element pro and Advocate Chad Muska. Famed breakdancers and Advocates Dino, Tails and Energetic threw their own head spin on the fashion show adding to the entertainment. As the crowd meandered into the dining area Ray Barbee took over with a soothing set of tunes; followed with a DJ set by Odd Nosdam, Advocate and music producer of ‘This Is My Element.’ Advocates Brooke Reidt and Mike Kershnar were on hand displaying their art, while Humatarian Advocates Dallas Oberholzer and Todd Larson also had powerful displays set up, telling stories of using skateboarding as a tool to help kids build successful lives. Element finished up the weekend at X Games today. Bucky Lasek skated in the Mens vert, hitting his stride on the final run but just not enough to crack the top three spots. Over on the Element Mini Ramp Brent Atchley and Collin Provost continued to murder the ramp as they’ve done all weekend. Element team has a unique 60 ft. wide mini ramp that the team has been ripping the last couple days. Long lines of fans came through to get autographs from a wide range of Element riders. The Element booth and mini has been a hot spot for fans, skaters and friends of the team. Element also held a demo before the best trick contest. Check out footage and photos!

Lacey Baker, Evelien Bouilliart and Vanessa Torres all stood out strong in the three zone womens contest this morning. Where one excelled another couldn't put it all together and even though they all landed some of the best stuff of the day, none were awarded medals. Nyjah Huston skated amazingly well throughout the three heats and Tony Tave laid down some serious tricks, but the judges didn't advance either rider. Nyjah finished in tenth with a 81.83, just a fraction off the cut. Click here for complete results, check back later for photos and video here.

X Games Thirteen in Los Angeles begins tomorrow! In recent news Tony Tave has been added to the list of riders in the contest, he’ll start skating tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 2nd in the Skate Street Selection Session (Qualifiers). Chad Muska has been announced to co-host the skate events, you can hear him live on the webcasts. Element will be on-site bringing you coverage of the skate events, updated live from the Home Depot Center.

If you are in the Los Angeles area Monday night, July 30th, head down to the Silent Movie Theatre for the premiere of the new video by John Berry called ‘Atmosphere.’ Element pro Darrell Stanton headlines the video full of excellent skating from Long Beach rippers including friends seen in Darrell’s ‘This Is My Element’ part, Scott Kane and Nick Trapasso.

Be on the lookout for Tosh Townend’s ‘Weenabago Project 2’ as the tour has departed from Orange County and is headed for the ultimate destination of New York City. it’s a trip sure to be full of fun, skating and hijinx. If you don’t get a chance to catch them on their trek it will be fully documented for your viewing pleasure available somewhere down the road.

The Element sponsored Youth Movement Co-Op tour starts today in San Francisco. Brent Atchley will be on hand for a packed day of fun and activities. The Element team kept the summer at Skate Camp going strong with another action packed week. The Element team spent last week on the island of Oahu, celebrating the opening of a store in Waikiki and skating all over the island. One day they headed to Cholo’s bowl on the North Shore for a day of fun in the two bowls. Bam, Muska, Tosh and Senn welcomed over a thousand visitors to the grand opening of the Element Store in Waikiki, HI. The line wrapped around the block full of autograph seekers, some left even happier with element decks, the new video 'This Is My Element' and more. The celebration continued into the night at a nearby club as DJ's Jef Hartsel and Chad Muska spun the night away while 'This Is My Element' played behind them. Thanks to everyone that came out, waited in the sun for autographs and celebrated the store opening throughout the day!
