The “Make It Count” East Coast Tour took a stop at the Skatepark Of Tampa for a skate jam, best trick contest, signing and film premiere. Bam Margera, Chad Tim Tim and Collin Provost ripped it up alongside a ton of great local skaters. Much thanks to Brian Schaeffer, the whole Skatepark Of Tampa crew and everyone that came out and endured the hot humid day, making it a great one!
MAKE IT COUNT is a four-part documentary, which showcases Element’s defining moments and delves into its compelling story. From its humble beginnings, to a forward thinking global brand, this film covers two decades of stories and imagery.
In creating Chapter 1 of 4, “WIND” I followed Johnny Schillereff (Element founder & president) and dug into his history, interviewing the very people that have shaped his life and the company. The opening and closing sequences give you a small taste of the diverse community of people interviewed for the entire project, topics covered, and nostalgia that was un-earthed.
Each chapter of MAKE IT COUNT will be release on the 1st of each month:
Yesterday will go down in history, as we shot one of the most last-minute interviews of the project… While shooting a promo piece for FUEL’s Daily Habit, Johnny (Schillereff) and I ran into Kris Markovich. And through an amazing turn of events, Kris and I were eventually in a back alley shooting an interview with a borrowed camera, tripod, and mic.
Thanks Kris for the interview, FUEL for the camera, Amber B for the photo, Johnny for Element, and everybody else.
Mike V is considerably one of the most important people within skateboarding, as he has ushered in decades of change, including fashion, innovation, and business.
Here Mike explains how his generation interpreted early magazine photos into what we know now as “street skating” along with a photo collection by Element Advocate, Amber B .
Ten years ago, Element honored the importance of Natas Kaupas to our industry by re-releasing his original SMA board with an updated illustration by Todd Francis.
Todd knows a thing or two regarding skateboard history, especially when you consider his resumé as the iconic illustrator of such brands like Anti-Hero, Element, New Deal, Real, Stereo and a lot more. So when he talks about street skating and its heroes, you better listen up.
Here are photos from Todd’s interview, shot by Element Advocate, Amber B, and an interview regarding Natas and his impact on skateboarding.
